When a decision could change the course of your life, clarity is not optional.

There's a decision in front of you. A job. A move. A relationship. A business. A step in ministry. It's the kind that shapes the years after it, and there's a date attached: someone needs an answer, or a window is closing, or waiting has quietly started to cost you.

You've done what you know to do. You've prayed and fasted, gone back to Scripture, asked the people you trust. It hasn't settled. One person says go. Another says wait. You had a dream, or a verse landed, or you felt peace about it once, and now you can't tell whether that was God or just the relief of having decided.

Some days you're sure. Other days you're sure of the opposite.

That isn't a faith problem. You're probably the person other people bring their decisions to, and you help them see clearly. This one is different for one reason: it's yours. Nobody sees their own blind spot from the inside. Scripture doesn't expect you to. It builds counsel into weighty decisions on purpose: "Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed." Proverbs 15:22

Some choices can be undone. This one shapes what comes after it: where you live, who you build with, what you're responsible for, what you carry into the next season of your life and your family's. In five years you'll be living inside whatever you choose now.

So how you decide matters as much as what you decide. A decision made while fear, wanting, and pressure are still unexamined isn't a decision. It's a reaction with spiritual vocabulary. And the cost doesn't show up on the day you decide. It shows up later, when you're looking back, trying to work out what was actually steering.

Most people who come to this work already know that cost. There's a decision in their past they made on a feeling, and they're still paying for it. They didn't come here to repeat it.

Picture the same decision, three weeks from now.

You can name what's driving it: the parts that are faith, the parts that are fear, the parts that are simply what you want. You know which facts are facts and which were assumptions. You know what's been confirmed and what's still uncertain, and you've stopped treating the uncertain parts as settled. You've held each option up against Scripture and plain wisdom, and you can see how each one holds.

And you know your next faithful step. Sometimes that's yes. Sometimes it's no. Sometimes it's get the missing information first, and don't let a deadline decide for you.

That's clarity. It's quieter than a prophetic word, and it holds up better. You still make the decision. You make it with your eyes open.

Prayer works. Counsel matters. Neither is the problem.

Here's what happens instead. In years of walking with people through decisions like this, one pattern shows up again and again: a motive gets translated into spiritual language. Fear of staying stuck becomes "God is moving me." A strong desire becomes "a door is opening." Relief at the thought of finally deciding becomes "I have peace about it." Once a motive sounds spiritual, it stops getting questioned. You can't examine something you've already labeled as God.

Then the deadline arrives and closes the one thing that could have caught it: time to test.

So you've been praying, sincerely and hard, toward a conclusion you never tested. Not because your faith is weak. Because from inside your own head, with a clock running, fear, wanting, and the Holy Spirit can be almost impossible to tell apart.
